Not a bad guess, but no. The photo is from the '30's of a course that was built in '28 and started as a nine holer and did not have another nine added until I believe '65. The original 9's designer is quite well known. The photo is of the 4th hole.

In Sacramento we have two tees like that built on ponds with mats on wooden docks at Lincoln Hills and Bass Lake golf courses.

Dye built one at The Medalist but the tee is on the other side of the bridge. It's turf, and not of the astro sort.

David: Colwood doesn't have that much water.

I've never played it but was thinking of this photo or one from a different angle of the same hole, but now that I have pulled it up I can see that there is little resemblance.
