I'm afraid I will not be able to play.
I may still be able to pass through and say Hi, if I can I will and will happily loop for 9 holes if someone has a light bag.
I'll have to play it by ear, if I make it, I make it, but I Will NOT be able to golf.
Sorry.

Very big disappointment.  You have the coolest job of anyone on this board, although you may not look at it that way.

I played at Beechtree last Friday and if anyone is worried about a decline in conditions, don't bother. The course is in as good shape - firm & true - as I've ever seen it and remainsthe best quality for value in the area, at least for a couple more months.

Although I'll be missing the GCA party, I hope to get back at least once before the course closes Dec 7. If anyone is looking for some company, keep me in mind.

see everyone there early...10:30 sharp for me. rock on honorable ones.

Lloyd, I have a light bag and would love to talk shop with you for nine holes.  My boys BFS just released their live DVD from Manchester called "Live and Very Attractive" and it rocks.

Besides, I hit some of the funniest golf shots this side of the Pecos...

Anyone know when its closing its doors?

I may be back that way in early december and hopefully I could have a go at it before its dreadful end.

Dear all
Plans changed even further
Having cancelled my golf on this trip I can now, if I gun it, make it home for my son's 16th birthday
So I'm going to try to do that
Jay - I'll loop for you another time
I'm sorry to miss this, but I've missed enough birthdays (thanks to my coolest of jobs) the last few years
I think it would be nice to make this one

Chip,
With the national financial situation, and the fact that the House just defeated the recovery bill, I think its best to save money.  This could get really ugly really fast.

Therefore, I Laura and I will be able to attend.

Thank you so much for everything you've done here!

We're driving up through VA and looking to play on Friday afternoon somewhere close to Beechtree.

Probably going to play Whiskey Creek, as it looks to be on our path to Aberdeen via I-81/I-70.   Anyone else want to play Friday afternoon?

See you all there.

Eric: Whiskey Creek is okay but if you are up around Beechtree you should play Bulle Rock.  If you do play Whiskey Creek and want to get to Beechtree I would suggest going up 270 to 70 East to 695 North to 95 North.

Jay, that's the extent of your pictures from days of Beechtree yore?

Weather report for Saturday: low of 52, high of 68, sunny all day.

I thought some of you might like to see the photo album I took last fall at Beechtree:

http://darwin.chem.villanova.edu/~bausch/images/Beechtree/index.html

Also, the last two pics in that album are in fact panoramic shots, one from the 18th green and the other from by the 8th green.

Would the hole play better if the left side of the 5th green fell off and was not be raised up?  That would reward playing along the bolder line on the left near the huge bunker at the corner allowing them to hit into the slope of the green and penalize golfers playing up the left side safely away from the corner.

no, it's not the extent, just my favorite memory, nancy's second round of golf ever.  She played a lot better - AND FASTER - that time.

Nancy's first round ever - 192 at Royal New Kent, (not counting the many, many whiffs).  Five hours and forty minutes for a twosome.  We let all six groups through that we saw on the course.  Her terrific sense of direction got us lost in DC (her home town) and we were 2 hours 40 behind schedule.  Jay get world humanitarian peace award for patience.

Beechtree - 170!  Many fewer whiffs.  Four hours forty. Five groups played through.  This time we were only 2 hours behind schedule - she had to photograph the cicadas...

Andy, when I get some time, I'll post some more photos.

Bill, trust me every single group that played through was hitting on her and asking us to play with them.

But no, she's safely headed to Philly for her mom's retirement party.  I wouldn't do that to us, just me.  Rest assured though, when we see someone behind us, I wave tham through.  By the time they get past, Nancy's caught up (six feet...ten feet...eight feet at a time), but hey, she learning, she likes it, and the family that plays together, stays together.

Wanna read about Nancy and Bethpage?  Click here:  she's "Britt" in this story...

http://www.cybergolf.com/golf_news/the_art_of_the_bethpage_overnight_part_1

...and one more pic of Nancy...

Oh, wait a minute, that's Sam the Eagle and Jim Furyk.  Damn, Furyk's got quite the bushy unibrow.  And when did he get all blue and feathery?  But Sam the Eagle looks good on the left there...

There, this is more like it...
