Sorry, I am out this weekend, but check in real quick and see a lot of interest.
How about Saturday October 4th in the afternoon, say mid-day tee times to give folks that don't want to spend the night time to drive in. Some time between 11:30-12:30.
I want to make sure I don't bump too close to the Dixie Cup so going later than that in October probably wouldn't be far to that GCA gathering.
Let me know what people think about that date. If that won't work for many then maybe pull in back one weekend to September 27th.
My wife works for Corporate at Marriott and I might (might) be able to help on a few hotel rooms at Marriott properties if needed.
Whiskey Creek is my favorite public in the DC metro. Westfields is good as well. PB Dye is actually pretty fun. Also there is a public course in Baltimore that is supposedly in the top 10 munis in the country...anyone heard of it, I can't remember the name though.

I would consider coming up, depending on how work is going, and how close the date is to my wedding date of Oct. 10, that one would likely take precedence.

Let me know if anybody's coming down that'd like to play Hanse's French Creek - we're about 60 miles NNE of Beechtree.

updated list:
total of 22. if we get a few more to join, then net in cancels we would end up around 20 which is 5 times or basically a whole hour of tee times.
if October 4th is the day, then it sounds like i can call 30 days in advance which would be September 4th and try and get 5 tee times held starting around lunch on october 4th.
- Jay Flemma - Dan Herman - Jim Franklin - Chip Gaskins - Phil Benedict - Justin Sadowsky - Cory Lewis - Michael Malone - Jerry Kluger - Paul Carey - Dave Bourgeois - Tommy Williamsen - Mark Arata - John Mayhugh - Chris Avore - Craig Disher - Jimmy Chandler - Carl Nichols - A Hughes - Rob Waldron - Karl Bernetich - Astavrides

Chip,
So far the 4th looks perfect for me. I will probably blow off that Friday and hit something on the way down from CT as well.

If the date is October 4th take me out, I did talk to my old boss at Beechtree today and I can arrange tee times on a Friday if October 4th doesn't work. Otherwise have a great time and enjoy the course!!!

Put me down as a definite maybe. Never having played a Doak to this point, I have mixed feelings about debuting on a soon to be NLE, but any chance to meet new and renew old GCA acquaintances has to be given serious thought.

Put me down as a possible. Depends on date for son's birthday party. I'm doing a Bulle Rock and Beechtree weekend Aug 16/17 so don't cry for me if I can't make the GCA event Tim

Jay: If you do get to join Dan at his place it is well worth the effort. In addition, when I left there to go back to DC the golf shop gave me directions down some back roads out toward Lancaster which eventually got me down to 95 not too far from Beechtree - it was a great drive and a lot of fun - the other way has traffic lights and shopping centers and is ugly.

I hesitate to say anything as my schedule has been totally unpredictable in recent months.
I'm a definite maybe, as well, and have mixed feelings about the day because it is one of the only courses where I actually stepped on a tee on the 11th hole and found myself involunatarily smiling at what lay before me.
One tends to remember those type of things rather fondly...

Jay - it's an easy trip. Plus, I just realized that I'm an idiot - the DVD I thought I sent to you was sitting in my desk. Sigh! (It's a DVD of Tobacco Road from STO in Cleveland - don't get crazy thoughts!).
Remember, Chester County, PA's southern border is the Mason-Dixon Line - so we're pretty close to Beechtree.

While I won't be able to make the GCA Gathering, the club's web site says that the season lasts until Dec 7, so I'll try to make it out there (for a 2nd time, 7 years apart) on Thanksgiving with my uncle and 'cousin-in-law'.

I just had my Beechtree going away party - it was a very good one at that. Some recommendations: I stayed at Vancherie's Harford house: http://www.oldchesapeakehotel.com/vancheries.htmlThey have a golf rate of about $100. It would be a great idea to rent out the whole building - 4 rooms and have a big party - they are all suites - kitchens with fridges. Walking distance to http://www.laurrapin.com/ Good wine and beer list. Havre de Grace isn't Newport, but it would be fun if you brought your own party. I walked Beechtree twice in a day - with lunch at Bulle Rock inbetween. It was a very easy walk. I would rather play Beechtree a third or fourth time rather than Bulle Rock. If I ran the Dixie cup I'd change locations to Beechtree. Cheers

Chip, are you planning on 18 or 36 holes? JimF, your priorities are out of whack. 18 holes in the afternoon was my thoughts. that gives folks time to drive in that morning from the NYC metro, Richmond/DC, Philly, etc..

I will be travelling home from a concert in Chapel Hill, I need to get to Philadelphia for dinner time on Sat 4th... so if I could be added to the group with a request for an early tee time I'll drive all through the afternoon and evening of the 3rd and get a motel nearby. If whoever is in charge of this could PM me I'd appreciate it. This is a stroke of good fortune as I'd been meaning to play but never had the opportune moment.
