Put me down as a possible. Depends on date for son's birthday party.

I'm doing a Bulle Rock and Beechtree weekend Aug 16/17 so don't cry for me if I can't make the GCA event :)

Jay: If you do get to join Dan at his place it is well worth the effort.  In addition, when I left there to go back to DC the golf shop gave me directions down some back roads out toward Lancaster which eventually got me down to 95 not too far from Beechtree - it was a great drive and a lot of fun - the other way has traffic lights and shopping centers and is ugly.

I hesitate to say anything as my schedule has been totally unpredictable in recent months.

I'm a definite maybe, as well, and have mixed feelings about the day because it is one of the only courses where I actually stepped on a tee on the 11th hole and found myself involunatarily smiling at what lay before me.

One tends to remember those type of things rather fondly...

Chip:

Please count me in.  Also add Jeff Laughters, he is making the trip with me.

Thanks,
Eric

Jay - it's an easy trip.  Plus, I just realized that I'm an idiot - the DVD I thought I sent to you was sitting in my desk.  Sigh!  (It's a DVD of Tobacco Road from STO in Cleveland - don't get crazy thoughts!).

Remember, Chester County, PA's southern border is the Mason-Dixon Line - so we're pretty close to Beechtree.

While I won't be able to make the GCA Gathering, the club's web site says that the season lasts until Dec 7, so I'll try to make it out there (for a 2nd time, 7 years apart) on Thanksgiving with my uncle and 'cousin-in-law'.

I just had my Beechtree going away party - it was a very good one at that.

Some recommendations:

I stayed at Vancherie's Harford house:
http://www.oldchesapeakehotel.com/vancheries.html
They have a golf rate of about $100.
It would be a great idea to rent out the whole building - 4 rooms and have a big party - they are all suites - kitchens with fridges.  :)
Walking distance to http://www.laurrapin.com/
Good wine and beer list.
Havre de Grace isn't Newport, but it would be fun if you brought your own party.

I walked Beechtree twice in a day - with lunch at Bulle Rock inbetween.
It was a very easy walk.
I would rather play Beechtree a third or fourth time rather than Bulle Rock.

If I ran the Dixie cup I'd change locations to Beechtree.

Cheers

I have a surprise birthday party for a client of mine in Florida October 4th. He turns 60 and is a big client. If it is the 4th, I will have to pass.

Chip, are you planning on 18 or 36 holes?

Chip,
The 4th just won't work for me. As much as I hate to miss this, it looks like I'll have to.

18 holes in the afternoon was my thoughts.  that gives folks time to drive in that morning from the NYC metro, Richmond/DC, Philly, etc..

I will be travelling home from a concert in Chapel Hill, I need to get to Philadelphia for dinner time on Sat 4th... so if I could be added to the group with a request for an early tee time I'll drive all through the afternoon and evening of the 3rd and get a motel nearby. If whoever is in charge of this could PM me I'd appreciate it. This is a stroke of good fortune as I'd been meaning to play but never had the opportune moment.

A similar question:

When are you coming to Houston - I can put your clubs to good use.
I also can recommend where to play...  :)

Lloyd is playing in New Hope on Sunday 9/28.

Any Philly area guys interested in going to see him perform?  I am.

Maybe a round at Lederach (or someplace else) that morning too?  Lloyd, can you get out to play Sunday morning as well?

Back to Beechtree.  I can't join up for the October outing.  However,  I just played it for the first time a couple of weeks ago with Mike Nuzzo and it a very fun course. Wide fairways that had a great look/feel from the tee, and big greens with subtle undulations.....and most importantly, a decent breakfast sandwich.

Michael,

I have to get to Atlanta after that show (in my car)!
However, on the way home (to MA) there are opportunities to golf. The 4th at Beechtree being one of them. Anyone wishing to come to shows, PM me. I always have a few comps - if I haven't given them to friends and family GCA bretheren are welcome to them. I will warn you though what a Spanish associate said a few years back - 'Lloyd, you sing better than you swing'. It was golf he was referring to.

I have to disagree with Mike.  Bulle Rock is worth playing although it is overpriced.  Perhaps it isn't Pete Dye's best course, but it is certainly worth playing.

Jerry,
Howdy.
To clarify.
I think Bulle Rock is very worth playing - if there were no Beechtree about to close for good.
If I had 4 rounds it would be Beechtree 4-0 this fall.

If Beechtree weren't closing with 10 rounds it would be Beechtree 8-2.
I'd way rather walk BT vs BR.
