artifical turf tee no more at Rich Harvest!

It will be interesting to see how well that grass grows (or rather how quick it dies) without some tree removal.  I'm surprised that they would play that hole so far back in that event.

I would guess they aim to have grass for the event, and then replace w/ artificial turf thereafter.  Can't imagine grass ever growing there without removing a forest. 

I think the further back they can put the tee, the better...as long as they open up the left side just a bit.

Have they ever tried artificial light instead of artificial turf? Has anyone for that matter?

I can't remember for sure but I thought that all of the tees on that hole were artificial grass?  Either way they really need to get some of those trees out of there, there's no where to go on that hole and in my opinion detracts from the rest of the course.  If it was a bit more open it would be a lot better of a hole.

Even if they don't play those tees, you cannot be playing an event like the Solheim Cup at a course with artificial turf.

Perhaps they can do something similar to what they do with the grass field at the stadium in Arizona where the Cardinals play. They roll the field outside and let it get natural sun, and then roll it back in to play on it. Perhaps they could create tee "boxes" that they can roll to sunnier spots for growth and then move to the appropriate spot for play.

Heck, couldn't other courses do that? even have movable tees that could be placed at the caprice of the super? or would that mess with slope and rating and all that stuff?

Tim I do it every once and a while on real grass, its a lot easier to see if you play near dusk.
