Can't log onto GOLFCLUBATLAS?
« on: July 11, 2008, 01:18:43 PM »
I was just talking to Bob Crosby and he said for the last month he has not been able to log onto GCA during the day or from his office and that the only time he could seemed to be at night. He's in Atlanta. I said I haven't had that problem at all. Have any of you had the problem in the last month Bob's been having?

I told him I'd email Ran or Ben to see if they knew why this was. But what could be better than asking all of you if you've had the problem Bob's been having and if you have any idea what it is and how to solve it?

I have had the same problem - from SF.  I would imagine it has something to do with our Australian hosting service.

Well, alrightee then. Thank you. Maybe I'll tell Bob to check with his office manager next to see if this might have something to do with kinda, sort of like, work production related---you get my drift?   ;)

I've experienced the same problem from my office in Sweden. Got around it by accessing the site with an anonymous proxyserver. Might be an dns-related issue.

Had no problems from a Hilton hotel in Atlanta.

Sounds like Bob has a  'local' problem if he is using same PC/Mac for logging from home & office.   Maybe the firm & his wife have both blocked the site and set a timer for allowed access.

Maybe the new GCA software by Josh Crane, III counted the number of hits and cut him off.   Maybe Crane I has some spite from the beyond.

Sounds like GCA if he has unfettered access to all other sites at all other times using all computers.   Dunno.

If your computer contains cookies from the types of sites that shall go unnamed the Golfclubatlas firewall will not allow access.

When the board software was updated, the link that would automatically log in was changed.
I expect Bob Crosby is using an outdated link at work.

If he's just using the discussion group, he should delete his bookmark for the GCA discussion group and bookmark this link instead.

http://golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/board,1.0.html

He may need to log in once, but after that, it should be OK.

....he has not been able to log onto GCA during the day or from his office ...

Never had that problem.

'Course it would never occur to me to log on from my office!

Many times at a public library, hey..they have some of the cleanest bathrooms, they will have signs posted next to the computers saying not to access chat rooms.  Would checking in on Golfclubatlas be considered a violation of implied agreement or does the reasearch factor take precedence?  I have not been caught yet and am carelful not to view the monitor in the traditional duck, tilt and cover mode so popular with the pervs.

Given the advances in technology and the need to prevent employees from shopping and such during working hours wouldn't it be easy to block all sites such as GCA from the workplace with a firewall.

Maybe I should clarify myself a bit. I had frequent problems accessing the whole site. Not just logging in.
Sometimes, like earlier today it works without any hassle though. And no, we don't use any kind of screening/blocking software and our firewall is not configured to deny access to certain kind of sites or content.

Tom,

Joe Hancock suggested I uplug it for 5 minutes, then plug back in and it worked.
