There is strange and then there is the Rabbit......
« on: June 24, 2008, 04:09:12 PM »
Steve Wilson mentioned meeting the weirdest guy on a golf course who wanted balls from players helping him find his own lost ball.

But for weird, can anyone bump Peter Herreid's round with the rabbit at Pebble Beach.

The heading was something like:

I cannot get the link to open.

Did the guy with the pet rabbit live at Pebble or was he visiting?

I can honestly say I have never even heard of such a thing.  I have seen these ads in the past for Daniel Island with a guy standing on a tee box with his black lab sitting next to him like they are getting ready to enjoy a nice morning walk together.

Still you see some weird stuff in California and Pebble is in California and people with a ton of money that might live around the Monterey Peninsula and be a little strange could enjoy playing the game of golf.  I could almost make sense of the idea of a man playing golf walkgin with his dog but, not a cat and I would never understand the white rabbit.

Bob,
Thanks for resurrecting this.  Great to see the story again.  The narration and photography are outstanding.  Poetry by Peter Herreid:

The blue of the sky…
The gold of the setting sun…
The green grass of the fairways…
The glint of the firm, grey sand in the bunkers…
The foreboding dark browns of the cliffs…

...and of course...

The stunning white fur of the rabbit…!

This is the single most funniest thread I've ever read on this site.

When I first read it, I was literally in tears on the floor with my co-worker looking at me like I'm nuts.

I doubt this can ever be topped and if he didn't have pics to prove it, I'd swear he just made the whole thing up.

If ever there was a question as to the value of digital cameras in the world, that thread cements it.  I, like Kalen, in the absence of evidence would never have believed such a "tail" ;)
