Financial Times - "What's In A Name?"
« on: June 07, 2008, 08:52:49 PM »
The feature topic in the House & Home section of this weekend's Financial Times is "how (golf) courses can be key drivers  of property markets."

The feature story is how name course designers add value to property developements. Go to www.ft.com and search for Nicklaus.

There are also articles on golf course properties in Cyprus (search Aphrodite Hills) & Rhode Island (search Carnegie Abbey) and a survey of 5 various golf course properties around the world.

I seem to recall a similar article in another magazine not too long ago but can't remember if it was Golf Digest, Golf Magazine, or T&L Golf.  Does anyone else remember this too?

"Developers of golf resorts say paying for celebrity endorsement..."
Endorsement, architecture... all the same.

There is some stuff in there that makes one reach towards the barf bag and some decent stuff too.

"But as a business proposition, an enterprising dealer in real estate has only to consult records of marvelously increased valuations of property nearby golf courses to appreciate the fact that the subject is worthy of further investigation..." A.W. Tillinghast, Planning a Golf Course, 1916.

Seems somethings really don't change...

Agreed, but when did his change from being a creative driver to a pox on golf?
