Hogan for 'the Modern Fundamentals'?

Will someone explain to me how one qualifies a "Fundamental."

What is the difference between a Modern or Ancient Fundamental?

Isn't a  Fundamental just that?

I know Larry Nelson used the book as his Bible but how many games were ruined by trying to get the supination right?

Donald Ross?

I imagine he was responsible for getting many Oakley and Essex members started, as well as spring tuneups for an entire generation (or two) of Pinehurst visitors....

Does anyone know if he was decent at giving lessons?
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

Same thing as before as Golf World IDed the top ten teachers - in no particular order -- for the 10th century.

Please keep in mind the following people are not on the list ...

Butch Harmon
Jim McLean
Hank Haney

Now, let the fun and games begin -- hopefully, this listing will not last as long as the other.

Constantine?

Otto the Great?

John VII?

Abu al-Wafa al Buzajani ?

Sridhara?

I'm going with Balther of Säckingen.  Talk about understanding the short game!

Look.  He wasn't called Athelstan the Glorious for nothing.

Or Edway the Fair...I understand his rates were very decent.

Just scanned the posts, can't remember if these guys were mentioned:

Stewart Maiden (Bobby Jones' teacher)
Tommy Armour

I like the recent mentions of John Jacobs, Percy Boomer, Paul Runyon and Pia Nilsson as guesses.

If Alex Morrison is not on the list, he ought to be.

Morrison was the most popular golf teacher in the 20's and 30's. He had a studio in NYC and catered to the high net worth set.

The lineage he started is incredible. Morrison taught Jack Grout and Henry Picard. Both Grout and Picard show up as young proteges demonstrating the Morrison ankle roll in a couple of Morrison's books. Grout and Nelson both came out of Texas at about the same time. I've read that Grout had some influence on Nelson early on.  Grout then taught Nicklaus (I've always thought Nicklaus and Nelson had somewhat similar swings. I don't think it's accidental.) Nicklaus then went on to shape what people thought a good swing was supposed to look like for almost three decades.

Bonus points question: What did Morrison teach that was unique? Hint: Sarazan was the last major winner to use it.
