For our newbies, and some of our less travelered oldbies, I thought we could give them a list of public courses which best represents the work of each architect, whether living or dead.
Examples of this would probably be:
Donald Ross-Pinehurst #2
Dick Wilson-Cog Hill #4
Pete Dye- Whistling Straits
Tom Doak-Pacific Dunes
Feel free to add a 2nd course to each architect if you feel it represents another significant difference in style or topography.
I thought I'd add several more now that I have a block of time:
Jim Engh-Lakota Canyon and Redlands Mesa
Pete Dye-Whistling Straits and Casa De Campo
Jeff Brauer-The Quarry at Giants Ridge
Stanley Thompson-Cape Brenton Highlands and Banff
Tom Fazio-Shadow Creek and Pine Barrens at WW
RT Jones, Jr-Spyglass
McDonald and Raynor-Old White
Flynn-Homestead
Alister McKenzie-Pastiempo
Raynor-Yale
Coore and Crenshaw-Kapula and Babdon Trails
Ken Dye-Paa-ko Ridge
Tom Doak-Pacific Dunes and Barnbougle Dunes
Tillinghast-Bethpage Black
Micheal Strantz-Tobacco Road and Royal New Kent
Baxter Spahn-Black Mesa
Schmidt and Curley-Oak Valley
Charles Clarke-El Campeon at Mission Inn
Steve Smyers-Southern Dunes
Jack Nicklaus-this is a tough one, I can't think of one?
