Mark,
There are a few routing possibilities.
The back nine on the original routing is so spread out it was difficult to create the atmosphere of other Melbourne courses where holes are close together.
The problem is the 1st hole is a fantastic opener - wide fairway, not too difficult but easy to finish up with a five footer for a par without doing anything much wrong (not unlike 1 at St Andrews) - but a poor 17th hole.
A better routing is 1w,2w,3w,4,w,3e,4e,17e,18e,3e,4e,5w,6w,7w,10w,11w,12w,17w and 18w.
They will claim the probelm with this one is there is not enough room around 18 for the corporate tents but that should not matter in match play.
That would preclude putting a tee behind 17e for 2w.
