The hole of the week
« on: April 24, 2008, 11:06:57 AM »
I was looking through the Web Wayback Machine, and came across this really old thread from gca.com in 2001:  http://web.archive.org/web/20010725212346/www.golfclubatlas.com/board/ubbhtml/Forum1/HTML/004159.html

I think it's a great idea - let's (re)start a hole of the week discussion.  I'll leave it to folks a lot more knowledgable on GCA than I to suggest a hole to start.

What do you think?

Dan,

Neat idea.  Could produce some of those obscure back- and- forths that bring out the best in this joint.

Taking it from a different direction, and hopefully not too obvious, I think a focused discussion of #15 at Augusta might be timely.  If the jackets have been persuaded to "bring back the roars" I'd say that's where it starts.

THE NEXT SEVEN:  Alfred E. Tupp Holmes Municipal Golf Course, Willi Plett's Sportspark and Driving Range, Peachtree, Par 56, Browns Mill, Cross Creek, Piedmont Driving Club

Should the context of #15 at Augusta then be in the play of the guys in the Masters?

My pick for hole of the week:

The 9th hole at Myopic Hunt Club is one of the great short par 3's in the world. If anyone has a photo(s) that they can post, one picture, especially an aerial would tell it all.
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Thinking about 9th holes, I have 3 more that immediatley come to mind:

9 at Yale

9 at Royal County Down

9 at Commenwealth was another beauty

9 at Pebble is just too freaking hard
