New member introduction to GCA - James Boon
« on: April 15, 2008, 12:24:09 PM »
Dear fellow members of GCA

I would like to formally introduce James Boon to the forum.

James is a fellow RIBA qualified architect who also works at a new architectural practice that I have recently joined.

He has a very keen interest in golf course architecture and has a large book collection - his latest book is '100 years of Sunningdale Golf Club'.

James is a member of Horsley Lodge in Derby and Burnham + Berrow in Somerset and currently plays off 7. His brother is a PGA professional in Edinburgh.

James - fire away on GCA!...........

Welcome to a great site and a wonderful bunch of Guys who think they
know what they are talking about. :o :o  :o

None of us do, so don’t be slow in coming forward. ;) ;) ;)

No NEDO Formula here, no understanding of such things, but enjoyable debates. If you want to get some going just mention that you dislike carts
cart paths and electronic distance aids – that should get a two week debate going.  ::) ::) ::)

Bless Them.  ;D :D ;D

Well, here goes...

"Hello everybody!"

Thanks to everyone for the welcome messages, and don't worry about the Bond reference Joe, though I haven't heard that one since I was a kid!  ;)

I'm looking forward to discussing golf courses and their design as not many of the guys I've play with have an interest. Just off to read the Golf Digest article on the interweb, on the environment and golf which looks interesting, so I'm sure that will give me something to talk about? And while I'm at it Melvyn, I despise cart paths (luckily we don't get many here on our side of the pond) and electronic distance aids (why use one if it can't be used in real competition?)...

Cheers, James
