To each how own I guess, but the area between those things and the clubhouse gets very crowded during the tournament. Members wish they had a lot more room.

Without a doubt, but they weren't building a course to a professional major in the 1930s.

I don't think there's anything "wrong" with it. But I've been around a fair number of old golf courses, it's not real common for the original clubhouse to be that far from the opening tees and finishing greens.

The original tees and greens are all more than a 100 yards from the clubhouse.

Now that it does host one of the biggest events in golf, that space has become inadequate, especially since they moved both 1 and 10 tees 50-70 yards closer to the clubhouse.
