Jim,

It's an interesting study about air volumes, but (and he admits to his inexpertise in the footnotes) the author doesn't directly address pollution, which is and should be a concern to all of us.

It is well done from a mathematical point, and certainly brings attention to how much air an engine breathes.

Bunkers become waste areas.

But for me it is a conceptual - psychological issue of allowing great variation in turf conditions relative to the amount of rain fall ... Of course protect the greens ... differ the course set-up.  In very dry hard conditions, move the tees back. 

Is the high end of the golf market, which sets the tone for the entire market, can't stomach this, then is it futile?

More turfgrass research??
