- if people seem to like the Biaritz green at North Berwick and why no love with TR #3?

Chip et al,

I've often wondered if the extreme front of the 3rd green is pinnable.  Has anyone ever played there with the pin up front?  If pinnable, this would be a dynamite short and precise hole location.

Chip,

What would it do for you if it were ranked #57 in the USA?

i suppose nothing really, maybe add a little more legitimacy to the ranking systems?

i can't say i was necessarily arguing its ranking (though I have done that in the past) i was more picking TR apart piece by piece and trying to argue its merits (not necessarily its ranking, more its merits)

Bogey

David Madison and myself had a very good look at the front of this green and came to the conclusion that it was pinnable when the course is wettish.  I am not sure it is reasonable in dry conditions (though I have never seen the course dry).  Again, this is a situation where a bit of an adjustment to the area just short of the green could make the front of this green usable in all weather conditions.  I struggle to understand why Strantz would limit the green the way he has.

Mike & Sean,

The last time I played TR (Nov 06 I think) it was on the front tier. In my group 3 of the 4 hit that section and stuck it there. It was not overly wet, but definetly F&F.

my last post in TR defense ;D

it seems like the main two issues you guys highlight most often with TR are it's "too wet" and it's "too hard to walk".

i am playing there in a month and will be a photo whore
