I love this course, I never got to see it before the renovation, but it is one of my favorite courses to play. Just bring some industrial strength bug spray if you play it in the summertime, the horseflies on the back nine are ginormus.......
New Orleans, proud to swim home...........

Patrick;

I actually believe that story---it's too outlandish for even you to make up.

Congratulations, and that story should definitely become part of the recorded lore of not just ACCC but golf itself.

By the way, even if you were not the captain or manager of the ACCC women's swim team would you say you know as much about golf course architecture as you do about women's swimsuits?

If so, I'd like to have a brief discussion on here regarding any similarities, actual or philosophical, between minimalism in golf architecture and thongs.

TEpaul,

Last year I was at a hotel in South Beach, sitting by the pool, when I noticed 7-8 good looking women in the pool, all in their late 20's, all topless and wearing thongs.  They were having a great time and had obviously been overserved.

I turned to my wife and said that I thought those women were from out of town, and as such, they probably needed help in recommending where they should go for the night life in South Beach.

I then got up from my chair, walked into the pool and waded over to them.

There were all very attractive and it was difficult to take my eyes off of every part of every one of them.

They told me that they were having a bachelorette party and that they were friends from Pensacola, Tampa, Orlando, Miami and points north.  They were having a great time.

About a half hour after I entered the pool, my wife came into the pool, waded over to me and gave me a big hug.

Then she said, "is that a cell phone in your pocket or are you just happy to see me ?"

I couldn't believe it, I was so taken by these gorgeous, topless women in thongs, that I walked into the pool with my cell phone, wallet and cash in my pocket.

I got out of the pool and used my wife's cell phone to call my friend who sold me my cell phone.   When I spoke to him, I told him that I needed a new phone Fed-Xed to me, but that I wanted to make sure I retained my old number.  He asked, "did you get it wet ?"  I said, "you could say that" and told him what had happened.  He had a good laugh and said he'd have one sent.

I've always had great radar and the ability to keep a cool head in certain areas, but, I couldn't believe that I had become so entranced by the sight of these 7-8 gorgeous women in nothing but thongs, that I forgot to empty my pockets before entering the pool.

This year I intend to put my cell phone in a water proof plastic bag  ;D

TEPaul,

Trust me, you'd have gladly sacrificed your cell phone to be included in their circle of "friendship".

It was a small price to pay for a GREAT afternoon.

Tom,

Good news bad news. Patrick's circle of friendship is about 3 1/2 inches!

Sean,

If you still go play some Philly parkland after this thread, I sugget you resign your GCA login!  8)

Mike Sweeney,

No, it's a little bigger, 4 1/4 to be exact.

All I can tell from this thread is that ACCC has a cool history (not sure what that means) and a swimming pool that may or may not be filled with babes and Mucci.  Jeez, Babes & Mucci sounds like a bad sitcom with the loudest canned laughter on the market.

I only played ACCC once, pre-Doak, on a morning where I left NYC with snow on the ground and played in a flurry or two at the club.

What do I remember the most?  The Locker room :), was it as traditional and nice as I remember it ? Did the hotel actually keep it that way ?  I always felt it would have been a good buy for any other club.

Sean Arble,

Your above post proves my theory regarding your reading comprehension skills, your ability to create something that doesn't exist, and therefore, your many flawed conclusions ;D

There is NO swimming pool at ACCC.

How, Where and Why did you make up that bit of erroneous information.

Corey Miller,

The last time I was there, the clubhouse and locker room were unchanged.
Perhaps someone who's played there recently can confirm.
