Been playing golf basically every sunny day for  more than 20 years and I have never once noticed how many cigarettes were on the course. I have to believe the hole that I am playing is more important.

I agree that discarded butts are an annoyance, and even more so in a bunker, but it got me thinking about a funny story from years ago.

One of the cart boys at the club I was working at in Boulder, a full fledged hippie of course, had a reputation for eating peanuts on the course.  He was a decent amateur and it would occasionally piss people off during the course of tournaments, a peanut shell is a bit larger than sunflower seeds and he would have his pockets full of peanuts, the weirdest thing, yes he kept them in his pant pockets.  After enough player complaints, not to mention the grounds crew, he was not allowed to bring peanuts to tournaments.

Still no addendum in the rules of golf though.
