I'm getting married in June in Orlando and need a $25-50 course for a Friday golf tournament for the boys (about 4-6 foursomes). Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions in terms of value and allowing me to make those tee-times ahead of time.

Patrick, almost everything in the area is going to be considerably less expensive in June's swoon, so don't be put off by today's rates.  Ask them for a June rate for a group of that size and they'll probably be lower than you might think.

Ask Sugarloaf, who knows?  If it's $65 for a one day membership in Feb/Mar, could be less in June.

Congratulations on the impending nuptials!   ;D

Give North Shore a call and explain what you want.

They're very close to the airport and the best value in Orlando. Voted #1 public course (it's semi private) by Orlando Magazine, and they're hosting a qualifier for the 2008 USGA Publinks.  Fine course, too.  They lose a lot of membership as the snowbirds go north so I suspect you should be able to work something out.

I'm bumping this up to the top to ask if any of your know if there is a new course in the Southwest Orlando area.  I've played Bridgewater in Lakeland, but I think there is a new course somewhere closer but don't remember it's name.  Thanks in advance.

I'll second Mr. Dasher's recommendation here.  You can't go wrong with any of his Orlando area courses.

Sugarloaf Mountain should top your list.  I played there Monday and it is fabulous!  Some of the best green complexes I've seen at any newer course.  You might have to do their "member for a day" which I think includes a sales spiel but that would still be worth it IMO

So here are my options for my little wedding outing in late June:

North Shore Golf Club @ $32/p

Eastwood Golf CLub @ $30/p

Errol Estate Golf Club @ $35/p

Legends Golf Club @ $35/p

Orange Lake/ Reserve Course @ $65/p with buffet or Legends  Course @ $70/p with buffet

I also contacted Sugarloaf just to see what there price would be.

Right now I am leaning toward North Shore off of the recommendation from Jason unless others have any other thoughts on any of these courses.

Again really looking for value here more than anything.

Legends in Clermont is a nice course, Clermont has decent elevation change.

In order, I'd go with these publics in Orlando:

Sugarloaf (just basd on C&C)
Southern Dunes
Orange County National
The Disney Courses (Magnolia is best)
Legends
Lake Nona
Eaglebrooke
Mystic Dunes

You also aren't that long of a drive from World Woods.

I would strongly recommend North Shore, particularly at that price.  I go to Orlando every March with a group to play, and North Shore is one of our departure day courses since it is so close to the airport.

It's a fun golf course to play - some good short par 4's, the par 5's are strong, and there's a couple of good long par 3's and a really tricky short one (#8).

The two 9's have a very different feel from each other.  The front is more open, while the back wanders through some old. large oaks.  There's not much intrusion of houses on the course, which is very unusual for courses in Orlando.

Well I thought I had it all set up at North Shore but they unfortunately set up a tournament that day. I tried Deltona but they don't give a rates break unless you have 40 people. Still waiting to hear back from Sugarloaf as well. Does anyone know anything about Errol Estate? It would be the closest but not sure if its a decent track.

Any thoughts/help? Sugarloaf came in at $95 and Deltona at $65 which are just a little too high for this event I think. Right now I am going to go with Errol Estate unless someone tells me otherwise.

Weed did a great job at Deltona, the detail work on the bunkering alone is worth a visit.  The only weakness I saw were the 9th and 18th holes which were rather dull affairs given the quality of the rest of the course.

Sugarloaf is as good as has been advertised here and I can't add much more to it.

Bill is quite correct, most courses will make you any kind of deal you want just to bring in extra revenue. Be careful to ask about their aeriation schedule, most courses do it 3 times, mid May, Jule 1 and mid Aug, but those schedules carry varry quite a bit, as well as the size of the holes as well as some do a double slicing making the greens really almost unputtable.

Southern Dunes, Mission Inn, Victoria Hills are all good options and should be priced right

Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

So here are my options for my little wedding outing in late June:

Haven't seen anyone else mention it, and since I don't know how familiar you are with Orlando...

Unless the real purpose is to have an excuse to spend an afternoon inside drinking beer during a thunderstorm (and that may well be your goal!), you'll want to seriously consider playing in the morning.

We are indeed planning on 9am tee times. Thanks Jason much appreciated.

The courses at Reunion are all pretty interesting, for Florida golf.

Patrick, just call me.  I know every course you mention.  I like Errol a lot.  27 holes on very good terrain in a neighborhood.

Derek Duncan - thanks for the comments and suggestion to go to Deltona Hills, one of my area faves.  I wasn't aware they'd redone it.  It was an excellent routing.  One of the first landfill courses.

Patrick,

John Conley is the authority on the area, but I'll chip in (and John may support this),  for a fun, budget round Mike Dasher's Highlands Reserve is great.  It is always affordable, seems to be accomodating to groups and is a really nice design on some interesting topography and neat holes.
