California Dreaming - with apologies to TH

Press Release –

YAHOO SALE TO MICROSOFT WILL CHANGE CLASSIC GOLF COURSES

Sunnyvale, CA --  One unanticipated consequence of the impending sale of Yahoo to Microsoft will be changes to two classic California golf courses.

According to Thomas Huckster of Yahoo, he plans to use the millions he expects to reap from the sale of the shares Yahoo offered  to lure the executive from Clorox Corp, to purchase the Pebble Beach and Cypress Point golf courses in Carmel, California.

“These courses have always been two of my favorites,” said Huckster.  “I plan to open up access to these great courses to members of my golf architecture cult, Golf Club Atlas.com.”

At this point Huckster says he plans to make only two minor changes to the famous courses, other than opening up access.

First, he will remove the annoying concrete cart paths from Pebble Beach, and then he will remove the annoying trees from the eighteenth fairway at Cypress Point.

“Other than those minor revisions, we’ll leave things pretty much as is,” he said.

Bill,

I read the  same article, but you must have got the edited version. The one I read said something to the effect of Huck's first priority will be to replace the shack they call the clubhouse at CPC and put in something more worthy of the location.   ;)  ;D

I heard he was going to lengthen the 16th at Cypress
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

The Huckster added, "Cypress Point is really darn nice."

He's not just opening up access to GCA.com members.  He's making that exclusive access.  No one else on the course other than us...3 1/2 hour rounds at Pebble (except during those million dollar Calcuttas)...a pretty great reciprocal arrangement for GCA'ers who go traveling.

I also heard Tom is considering a composite Pebble/Cypress course.  You'll have to ask him which holes from each course will make up the comp.

I heard he's also buying Old Del Monte golf course, so he can change the Duke's card to the Huck's card and make the discounts available with upto a year's reservation for any time regardless of availability. Of course the card will only be available to GCA members. :D
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

The version I saw said his primary motivation was to prevent any of Kalen Braley's silly ideas about 16 at CPC from ever being taken seriously.

The version I read said The Huckster was going to adjust the rate schedules because "too many Bandon types were diminishing the pure atmosphere of the place....it just isn't the way it used to be."

Thats odd, because I would never be accused of having influence over anyone.

But you must admit, that was a pretty sweet alternate for 16 though..   ;)

Oh man... I am DYING at all of this.  Great stuff, gents.  I am having a great dose of foot sandwich this morning.
 ;D ;D ;D

Just fyi to those who may be concerned, I was laid off from Yahoo awhile back... but as a wise Zimbabwean counseled me it would, it turned out to be one of the best things to ever happen to me, as I landed a new and better job about a week after the layoff, resulting in double pay for three months and a six-week "sabbatical" I am currently half-way through, being Mr. Mom and playing a lot of golf.  Even despite the layoff, I remain a loyal Yahoo, however... heck if and when the MS deal does go through perhaps it will take my options above water, and I can make some lesser dreams come true!

... resulting in double pay for three months ...

Pity the poor Mr H, all the years complaining about the cost of living in the Bay Area.  Perhaps with this new found wealth of the double pay, you might be able to buy a new double-wide .... ;)

Not a bad idea... sadly my wife has more sane and un-fun plans for the income... like saving for college for the kids.  You know about that, don't you my friend?

I was laid off from Yahoo awhile back...

Sure wish you'd have told me the day it happened, so I could have loaded up on Yahoo! stock.  Could've made a mint like Bob & I did with Clorox a few years back.

Very loud audible yuks.  For this same reason, the sane advice is to short VMWare soon.

I'd believe this was a dream if you had mentioned the new voluptous caddies he planned on hiring at Cypress. ;)

Are you saving up to send your kids to the "real" SC or that little college you went to that just lost in hoops to Pepperdine?
Not being a real irishman I'm sure you couldn't get them into Notre Dame. 8)

Is there a rater on this site who hasn't lost either his job or marriage since they got their card?  You guys really do pay a high price for the good of the game.  I'm gonna have to be nicer.

Actually it's "Torn Huckster," sounds like a porn star.  Think Dirk Diggler.  8)
