A poll for you consideration, golf course preferences:
« on: February 11, 2008, 04:12:58 PM »
In light of the thread about Pebble Beach, it was mentioned by a few people that while PB does have many outstanding holes, it also has some that are merely pedestrian or average in nature.

I know we have discussed this in GCA.com before, but I would like to attach a poll to it. What I'm interested in determing is preferences for golf courses.

Your first choice is a course with many outstanding and world class holes.  However, you almost must endure a few average or ordinary ones to get to the good ones.

Your second choice is a course that is comprised of really good solid holes.  While it may only have a couple of outstanding ones, on the flip side there are no ho-hum holes that most would be indiffernet to.

So on that note, please cast a vote and lets see what the treehouse thinks.

What if I don't really have a preference? Either of those choices beat out what is a more common choice for me - playing a course that has a few somewhat interesting holes and a bunch of holes that have little interest at all.

Ok, ok, I'm picking a nit. I'll go choose...........

I'm not really sure what this means but so far the votes are 2 to 1 in favor of preferring courses with outstanding holes and some pedestrian ones to wade thru, over the solid routings with fewer exceptional holes and no weak ones.

I will not take part in a poll that asks me to comment on a course that has holes that are pedestrian or average along with outstanding holes because words like pedestrian or average put nothing in context or perspective. Both words are just really BLAH and extremely low on descriptiveness.

However, if you asked me to take part in a poll that asks me to comment on a course that has outstanding holes along with a few that are YUCK or FUNKY and particularly UGH I would take part in that poll with al....aaall....(aah, woof)......ALACRITY!
