Original title.   Can you identify this?

Can you tell from the style who the Architect was?
Name the course?

My first thought was Colt, but then also thought of Park. Definitely England.

I'd agree with Colt.  And it looks like it's carved out of a primordial forest.

Looks like Addington Golf Club- By Colt and seems typical of his Heathland courses.

It is Colt.

A clue, it's half NLE.
(another was provided above by Terry)

Sorry, Tony. I didn't read close enough to see that someone had already guessed. :-[

Andrew  8)

This was the second 18 of which 9 is NLE.  The club history describes it as shorter and tighter than the main 18.

Anyone played the remaining 9?   I've read that the members consider one of the Par 3s to be the finest hole there.

I've played all 27 at St. George's Hill - it's been a while, but I think I remember the par 3 to which you're referring, Tony, and it was a pretty stout hole (with a big drop-off to the left of the green IIRC). Overall impressions of the third nine were just OK, although it made an enjoyable finish to a 45-hole day. :)

Cheers,
Darren

I've played the relief nine a couple of times.  The par three is the 2nd hole -- do they call that nine the "red"?

The first hole is excellent, too.  If I recall, they were going to do something to it -- pretty it up somehow, I can't remember.

Also, I haven't been there in about a year and a half -- last I was there they had closed one of the main nines for some kind of work.

Anyone know how it turned out?

Mark

PS I would have taken a guess but your pics were not loading yesterday! It's obvious though it's SGHGC because of all the houses crowding the fairways.

EDIT: That nine is the "Green" and here is a pic of the second from their website:

I played there in the late 90's and enjoyed it very much. Not quite up with Sunningdale and Swinley Forest but still very good.

The member rate the course very highly.

Will be interested to see if there is much change when i return there in 2008.
