My recollection was that he did something very similar to #17 at RNK at Bulls Bay.

Jay: I heard that you hired the Met Life blimp to take those photos and charged it to some unsuspecting client.

BTW, that diagram of #2 at RNK doesn't even begin to show exactly what sort of bear that hole is.  #2 is a truly frightening hole, that requires 3 precise shots, and only a fool would go for it in 2 - if you miss the green, your ball is pretty much gone unless you're lucky enough to fall into one of the smallish bunkers.

Justin: An interesting fact I learned about #2 at RNK:  The pros who played in the Crown Royal event at RNK did not hit driver on #2 - they hit to the shorter and wider area and then went across from there to the wider area short of the hole.  Some did go for the green in 2, but again, they did so from the shorter and wider landing area rather than hitting driver.

...you can see 14 holes of this golf course from the clubhouse!

It looks like a Tesla Plasma Ball . . .

That's a nice clubhouse in a very strong location and definitely must be a fun place to hang out, in what looks like a full wrap-around breezeway.  This picture's vantage point reminds me a bit of Chambers Bay but CB has its clubhouse up on top.  Interesting comparison for debate, maybe?  I'm sure that the cart paths and roads are much less garish when you're on the ground, or in the clubhouse, but is it the best location for the course?  Unique and bold, definitely.

I think back to the main lodge at Bandon, where it was first proposed to be placed on the site of BD #16, and what a loss that would have been; not just for the great hole location, but for all the roads and parking that would have been necessary.

This surely looks spectacular and is certainly worthy of comparisons to Pete Dye's work at Kohler.
