How Much Influence does PGA Tour Golf have on Architecture?
« on: January 10, 2008, 02:48:32 PM »
Trends such as needing 7000-yard tees on every new course are a byproduct of the way golf is played (or seen to be played) on the PGA Tour.  Has Tour play affected new architecture and maintenance/course setups in other ways?

Too much.  TV definitely spawned both Turning Stones courses and Liberty National.

...and it motivates Trump every bit as much as the top 100 lists.

It probably has a much bigger influence on course setups rather than architecture.

There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun.
