The Only Really Important Thing This Site's Ever Done
« on: December 18, 2007, 01:10:01 PM »
True story:

Two guys who love golf course architecture, living in the same large city, connect via this site.  Almost certainly they never would have met if not for GCA.com

One says to the other, "Have I got someone for you!"

So he introduces his new friend to a woman from his office.  His judgment is confirmed after the two, who would have never met if not for this site, marry.

Maybe the only truly life-altering thing this site's ever done...but, hey, good enough for me! Ran "e-Harmony" Morrissett, check's on the way....

Mark

PS  To Ryan Potts and all the would-be frustrated dads out there, when it's 1 a.m. Dec 25 and the champagne has worn off, just remember: broiling not only is as good as baking, it's healthier!  (A good metaphor for how to survive in-laws, neighbors, burnt ham, the souffle that refuses to set, etc. etc....)

PPS Yes, they're still married.

If that person is me, please don't tell my other wife! (No, I am none of the people involved...I just met them through this site...)

I wonder if the other woman called golfclubatlas.com has caused any divorces.... :)

Thanks for sharing the happy story. I've had the good fortune to meet quite a few folks from the site, so I can say without a doubt that there are more than a few life-changing events that have resulted from the site, just not perhaps as life-changing as the one you relate.

I've also had the pleasure of meeting honorable soles on this site, and others. Each has brightened my day and enriched my life for sharing a round of golf with them.

As for the gent in question, we can only assume he was single when introduced to the lady.  ;)

Tom Z, "honorable soles", as in first class heels, or well heeled?  ;) ;D
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

You're toeing the line of bad puns there, RJ.......not that it isn't an opportunity!

Good work, I'm proud.

Reminds me of a very old joke where the shoe factory burned down. 200 soles were lost. They said a couple of heels did it.
Thank you Henny Youngman.

Anyway,

In this case, by using the word "honorable," neither one would have applied!  :)

Good work by both of you to tie those together. Way to sock it to me. Remember, the louder the groan, the better the pun. Shakespeare.

A CGA.com baby. Wow.

After this thread do you think there is any chance they'll name it "Arch Support?"

There's a "double entendre" that will cause anyone to groan.

James,

I know we all thank you for supporting us being hosed. The only question I have is that you may be classified as "support hose."

Okay, I quit.

Mark, like Joe said.

OK,
I've been awake for nearly 30 hours straight, so it's time to be serious.....

I think this is a wonderful story, and it is a highlight of one of the many purposes this site serves, whether by design or not. Many, many of us have very fond personal experiences that have been a direct result of participation on this site.

Thanks, Ran, for allowing us to run amock once in awhile as we continue to get to know each other.

Congrats, that's great.
