slightly OT: old and new on the Grand Slam

Here's another person that thinks Woods can win the Grand Slam this year, an article by Joe Logan of the Philly Inquirer:

And for something old, here is another very entertaining comic published on Sunday, September 28, 1930, the day after Jones won the Grand Slam at Merion (also from the Philadelphia Inquirer):

Dan,

Digitized versions are available, but not easily.   Joe has access to it through Villanova University (the BBall team just got hosed by the refs versus Georgetown) where he is a chem prof.  Larger libraries in town, like the Free Library has them on microfilm.  Penn has some digitized, but they don't go back far enough.  The earlier editions are on microfilm.

I might be in LA soon.  I'll let you know.

Dan, go to Newsbank.com to see their Early American Newspaper collection.  I have access to this database from my school.  The Philly Inky is available electronically there from 1860 - 1922.

The comic above, as well as many other things I've posted over the past few months from 1923 and onward is from good ole microfilm.  My main mission has been getting info on Cobb's Creek (the way this course originally was set up could have been in Lost Links or Missing Links!), but I'm finding all kinds of other stuff along the way.... I've got leads on a couple of NLEs in the Philly area that very little is known about.
