A new sweet spot at Wolf Point Club

Wed night the course was so beautiful -- I'm standing directly behind the 12th green looking across the 11th & 2nd fairways towards the 3rd green in the distance. It was a beautiful day and I sat for a while in this spot and enjoyed our progress and the sharp sweek dusk air.

I'm having a hard time understanding your description.
Is the 3rd green in the center of the pic?
Is 11 a 3 shotter and 12 a one?

This picture is looking in the opposite direction.  The mott of live oaks in the left center of the picture is the same one that is blocking out the setting sun in the earlier picture.  This one is looking across the 2nd fairway, bunker in the foregroung, towards the 11th green - the light colored patch on the right near the horizon line:

This image shows the photo locations from above - 1 & 2 are sequencial from above.
Everything below is GPS data superimposed on a more current aerial - basically they are the as-built bunkers and fairways and greens and tees.  The center lines are the 6200 (orange) and 4500 (green) sets.  There are more out there as well....
For scale #3 is 500 yards from the orange tee - longer from the back of #2 green - look for the small circle on the left collar.

Keep checking the blog, I post pictures there first 4-5 days a week.

p.s.
The red circle by the 12th tee is quite the vantage point.
It is elevated on a small bluff and the look towards the 3rd green is very unique.
It is a kilometer of undisturbed golf fairway - with the exception of the native between 2 & 3.

The course is 95% grassed - all the important parts are anyway.
It should be primped and primed some time between the Masters and US Open.

Don might say it will take another year to keep maturing - but I'm not that patient.

Mike,

Looks great! I checked out the course on your website, and I love the "No ball washers, no trash cans" look. I'm sure that would make all the superintendents out there very happy!

But you will also have no cart paths. Is it a private course? Will there be caddies?

I don't know anything about growing grass in Texas. But will the carts be allowed to go anywhere? If yes, why won't they be a problem? Just curious.

Thank you.

No cart paths.
Very private.
Very little play.
I hope a few caddies, but they'll have to come from the maintenance staff.
I once said the carts will be allowed on the greens - but that is unlikely.
We have some maintenance dirt paths off to the sides.

About growing grass in TX on the gulf coast:
It is hot and humid and windy and we don't have any shade issues - so ideal for bermuda.

Don is going to keep the grass barely alive.

I'm looking forward to teeing it up....
I think I enjoy looking at the work more however.

Mike or Don, do you guys see this as somewhat of a laboratory for observing minimalist warm season turf maintenance techniques?  It seems like it is quite a unique situation with little rounds per year playing stress.  Do you have any plans to collaborate with other turf managers or turf research stations to experiment with how lean and mean you can keep turf playable?
