Mike,

I can understand your courses, but those other four hacks  ::)

Wilson:  Tried to take credit for Shinnecock Hills

Dye:  Alright already, enough of the wooden railroad ties

MacKenzie:  Too many bunkers and amphitheater greens

Raynor:  MacDaddy rip-off artist.  A non-golfer that Mike Cirba could beat right handed

Mine has a lot to do with the enjoyment of playing their courses. It's the reason I did not choose Tillinghast despite his enormous talent.

1.) Stanley Thompson
2.) Alister MacKenzie
3.) Charles Blair MacDonald
4.) Harry Colt
5.) George Thomas

Interesting responses... and interesting how the practicing architects never respond to these types of questions.  Why is that?

I'd love to hear some input from a few GCAs.

Surprised that no one mentioned Tom Simpson yet.

OK James....if pressed I would be happy just playing my own...and if need be I could limit it to five, especially if I could continue to tinker with them:

Diamante Dunes in Cabo [for my links course needs]
Love Barefoot
the Patriot
Ricefields
Orchard Creek [sentimental first, but hometown fun]

goofPaul,

You haven't built your best courses...yet.
