Was "Which modern GCA said this?"

Those who have played Chambers Bay please allow others to answer.

Who said the following?

"We try to let the most prominent features of the property become the "signature" for the course."

Tom Doak said in in response to a question for an article in Pacific Northwest Golfer. The full article is at

No Dan, not Jordan.

The Chambers  Bay reference is a bit of a misnomer. I used it to try to eliminate PNW members that have a better chance of knowing the answer.

Not Graves.

Although he has done courses far and wide, he has done some of his best work in the PNW.

Garland,

Just curious as to what you are trying to get at here? (Yes I know the answer).

I think it was interesting the particular architect found a way to use the word which he usually avoids. I suppose with that hint, it will be guessed real soon now.

It could have been me ... I've done a lot of interviews lately and can't begin to remember them all.  And I'm often asked about "signature" holes or features so I sometimes have to address that term.

Nah, can't be you TD. That would be too easy of a question! Although I did read your website to see if it was in your "philosphy" section.  (It's not.)

I don't know who it is, but, after listening to his video interview at Archerfield's website, I do know that TD hasn't lost his Ct. accent.  ;D

Jim K:

Really?  You think I've got a Connecticut accent?

I'm surprised because my parents were both from Missouri so I never thought I had a particularly eastern accent.  And God knows I've moved around a lot since.

When I lived in Scotland they did think I had a nice "American accent".

Tom,
Yes, I think you do. When you have 25 cents in your pocket, do you call it a quar-ter, or a kwa-ter(Ct.), and you had a little d in your th. The g drops are more Missouri than Ct.

Hmmm ... I definitely thought I always say "quarter", but perhaps not once I get a couple of pints in me.  :)

Well, don't blame me too badly if you have to think before saying quarter from now on.
