The hottest player in the game playing head to head against the "hottest" player in the game, a difficult, long finishing hole with water in play on both shots.......
Surely the LPGA couldn't envision a better finish...

I missed the end today, but the format is terrific. I watched the playoffs Friday and Saturday. I note this because I almost never watch the LPGA for the golf.

I do confess to watching the LPGA this year to see Paula Creamer. But in those cases I wasn't watching the golf.

I thought Micheel's shot on the 18th at Oak Hill -- for bigger stakes, really (the difference between $1 million and $100,000 is a fairly artificial construct, as opposed to a major that's been around for 90 years...) -- was clutch-er.

But -- it was a pretty good shot. And I admire and enjoy watching women's golf, in part because they seem to utilize more clubs on their bags and take different approaches to getting around a course.

There is no question but that golf architecture has a lot more relevance to the LPGA than it does to the PGA.

I just wish they played more LPGA events on memorable courses. The Womens Open at TOC this year notwithstanding.

I would love to see an LPGA event at NGLA or at Garden City or at Cypress. More so than a PGA event at the same courses.

I said MONEY shot, not prestige or big title.

On the LPGA Tour (actually any tour, but especially there), a $900,000 difference is HUGE for a one shot win.
That's close to playing for their own money as any major tour ever gets ($20,000 for third place).
If you think the difference between $1,000,000 and $100,000
is a fairly "artificial construct".........well then you must have a lot of millions (or none).

additionally, Micheel's shot was great, but he had no water to enter into the decision and no bad lie to influence the decision or shot. It took no guts to make the decision to aim for the pin, just guts to execute under major pressure.

Ochoa's shot took guts to decide on going for it (both the drive and the shot from the rough) as well as guts to execute.
This on the heels of a three shot swing on the previous hole.

But it was on a course with no centerline or ragged edged bunkering (and worse yet a waterfall) so it should've been marked OT.
