Is this the 1st at Cherry Hills, famously driving by Mr. Arnold Palmer in the forth round of the 1960 U.S. Open

How long was the hole playing back in 1960?  How long does it play currently?

I am wrong.  I went to the Cherry Hills web site and viewed a picture of the first hole, and this picture is not that hole.

When Plamer drove the 1st in 1960, it was then 346 yards.  But the hole plays slightly downhill and the course is at higher altitude.  The hole is currently listed at 404 yards from the back tee.

I seem to recall the 405 number from the only time I saw the movieclip.

This is a total guess, as I haven't been there. Is it Ekwanok?

Course was built by a minority group that could not get in to other clubs...

Is it the newly renovated Ross course at Bedford Springs?

Crestmont in West Orange
If a player insists on playing his maximum power on his tee-shot, it is not the architect's intention to allow him an overly wide target to hit to but rather should be allowed this privilege of maximum power except under conditions of exceptional skill.
