Signature architects in other countries......
« on: November 10, 2007, 06:57:24 AM »
I have heard it all now.....promise this is true......
I am in Nicaragua working on a project......
Yesterday I met a family looking at the project....an affluent Nicaraguan family that wanted a beach home and were talking to different developers....
The father who was a businessman and had been educated in the States during the 80's when there was war in Nicaragua informed us that he also was going to talk to the people developing the Jack Nicholson course up the coast....."he is a funny man...I like him very much" you know the "Cuckoos Nest" he said was one of his favorites......of course I educated him as to Jack Nicklaus and his contributions to golf....but the man truthfully had no idea and also had never played golf was going to start.
I really makes you stop and think how jaded we may be as to how the rest of the world views the sport or actually knows of the sport.....
WOW.....I mean this guy was serious.......

Now go the next step, Mike. What other celebrities have names that could be easily confused with famous golfers by non-golfing Nicaraguans?

Mike,

You wanted the truth, and apparently couldn't handle it.

Mike, Nicaragua is about as third-world as you can get.  Also pretty socialist/communist.  Not sure it's typical of the rest of the world.

But your story is funny.

The Nicholson-Nicklaus oral typo is quite normal among novice golfers in continental Europe.
