How many have played a William Flynn course?

I know that a great many, due to geographic reasons among others, have not had a chance to play a Flynn course.  If you would please indulge me, I would like to get a handle on the percentage of members of this website have played a Flynn course and how many have you played.  It might be interesting to consider a list of architects (dead and alive) and look at the distributions.

Thanks, Joel and Kyle.  I'll keep track.  I'd like to know who hasn't played or seen any of his courses as well.  I suspect he is rarely seen at all, and if so, mostly limited to Shinnecock, Merion, TCC Brookline, and Cascades by those that don't live in/near SE PA.

I just cut and pasted a file I have, I forgot that it included the ones that weren't built.  Of those, the Yorktown Lakeview and CC York were particularly strong designs.

You speak often of CC York - what makes it so strong? (Perhaps a question for a different thread or time if you'd like)

I love Cascades but can understand why some would come with high expectations that are not realized.  Though I would ask, have you been there since the bunker restoration?

Homestead in the Spring will be wonderful as it is in the summer, spring and fall.  You'll get two more Flynns under your belt if you play the Cascades and Old Course.

I don't know...when was the restoration?  I played 2 years ago in October...It was nice, very nice ..just not as good as many others I have been blessed to play.

The work was completed in Jan/Feb 2006.  It improved the course considerably.  However, while it is in the mountains, it sits in a river valley and many of the holes are on flattish ground.  It isn't what I would call mountainous.  That probably is disappointing to many.

It was somewhat disappointing.  I started a thread about 3 weeks ago stating that I think truly great golf courses need to be memorable.  I didn't find Cascades particularly memorable.  In fact, I didn't think any of the holes were truly "great".  I often see Cascades listed as one of the great "mountain" golf courses and I agree with your assessment.  It is not very "mountainous" and I am not sure that it is "great" either.

Reading your dates, however, I played the course the last day it was open before the restoration...Maybe I should try it again.

I would love to try some more Flynn, however.
