From Cornish and Whitten index:" No longer exists...", Any further knowledge of this lost child?  Cheers!  An unfeigned thanks to the heroic Chi-Wis Langford Moreau scholars!

Paul:

I haven't been able to find anything on North Shore Acres in some brief research on the web and my WI golf books. The old, funky, Depression-era course in Kenosha is Petrifying Springs, with some blind holes and some interesting use of the terrain. I've never seen PS credited to anyone, although it has hallmarks of some of the nearby Bendelow courses; he did a lot of work in this area. I don't think PS has any links to Langford; PS has pretty small greens, fairly tight playing corridors (it was carved for the most part out of a heavily forested park), and not the kind of bold features found at L/M courses. PS to be honest is probably closer to Lawsonia neighbor Tuscambia, a Bendelow, than anything else.

Will do some more research and post again if I find anything.

It would be cool if our crack aerial historian, Dan Moore might find a source of one of those old barnstorming flyover pictures on the oblique of North Shore Acres.

It seems that North - Shore - and Acres was a popular naming theme in this ILL-WI area back in the day.

Think I will just keep nose to the ground on this one.  Two of my late father's friends refer to a course on the south side, prior to 1926.  C D Wagstaff built 9 holes and a clubhouse in the dunes of south Kenosha, north of Zion, for a master development funded by Edith McCormick of Chicago. It was a washout.  Don't know if Langford had any association with Wagstaff.  The area is known as Chiwaukee Prarie.  Thanks for help gents!

Paul, I spent a few summers visiting my grandmother who was the resident housekeeper.caretaker for the Reynolds Aluminum family estate in Winthop Harbor.  The memory I have of the that stretch of beach front and back dunes suggests to my memory that a golf course may have been laid out within those dunes.  I remember them now and believe they may have been very golfy terrain.  In fact, the estate had a little 3 hole practice course.  I haven't been back there in 45 years... so I don't know what it is now.

the sqaurish water front property with the Chiwaukee prairie may very well be the old Reynolds Estate.  You can see some potential suggestions of a course in those dunes.  Or, am I hullucinating again?  ::) ;D
