Has anyone played the course since it opened. I know Dunlop White has seen it hopefully he will chime in. I looked at the photos on the internet and the course looks fantastic. I would love to meet with some fellow GCA'ers this fall and play the course.

Lawrence,
My brother has been there a couple of times and loves it, although he got fogged out on one trip.  We considered playing there this summer while I was up on a trip to Wytheville, but took the easy way out and played at Draper Valley instead.

I think Primland closes for the winter relatively early, doesn't it?

Mid to late October I'm pretty sure. You really messed up on the Draper Valley choice. Should have played the Pete Dye River course another 15 minutes up the interstate.

I'll mark that down for next summer's trip up there.

Does Primland still have the mandatory cart policy? That has always thrown me off a bit.

A.G. - next time you're in Wytheville, drive 30 minutes up the interstate to Bluefield and play Fincastle Country Club. It's a Dick Wilson gem that will not disappoint. It's private, but has a pretty generous guest policy.

I haven't played the VT course since Dye renovated it, but I've always considered Fincastle in my personal top 5 in Virginia.

Cabell,
I've looked at Fincastle CC, but have just never bothered to try to take care of the access issue; I'll keep that one on the radar also.  I'm up there each summer for a week or so, and usually only try to play once, and do a good job of visiting family instead.  Draper V. is so easy to get to, very affordable, and a solid golf course, so I don't stray far typically.
