If you already know, then please refrain and help otherwise, kinda like AOTD was.

I received these photos of this new course nearing opening (I
assume), of which I'd never heard of it prior.

The first set of pics is from someone involved with the
course, the second set is from a professional photographer,
of which I will properly attribute once the course is revealed,
as the name of the photographer could give away the course
(or at least location).

And here are the pics from the pro (that I had to shrink
considerably using a poor medium....MS Paint....so they are
NOT the true quality of the original):

I guess general thoughts of the pics could also be given.

My guess is that the fescue around the bunkers will be cut after 1 month of play. Too many lost balls and unrecoverable shots unless it is a bunch thinner thanit appears.

Is this Silva?

My best guess as to the state by the surroundings is California.  After that, I got nothing.  But it looks pretty good to me; some of those green contours are downright wild.

First photo eliminates Tom Fazio, you'd never see that cart path on a Fazio course.  Probably also eliminates Nicklaus, although it could well be the "new" Nicklaus with flashy bunkers and a lot of green contour.  If it's by Donald Steel's former associates (as someone suggested) then they are trying to separate themselves from Donald's style, it's nothing like anything they've built before.

I don't know where it is but it looks like a very nice piece of land, I wish I had gotten to work on it.

I don't have any real guess as to the architect but it looks like they are trying extra-hard, there is a lot of stuff going on -- bunkers in the middle of the fairway, contouring at the sides of the greens etc.

I wouldn't think its California...I'm not seeing any of the large oaks around...

It looks to be closer to the east coast side of the country.

I hope this doesn't qualify as a "ridiculous conclusion" -- but I think that's just beautiful.

I hope they keep that approach firm.

Private or public?

I'll guess private.

I'm guessing public by Gil Hanse.

It's interesting that the amateur pics show cart paths in all but one pic. The professional pics don't show any paths.

Which starts to explain why I often don't recognize professional pics of holes I know. The photographer has to find odd places to set up to get the cart paths out of his frame.

The course looks terrific, btw.

Are the wooden planks around the edges of the bunkers permanent or will they be removed once the course opens?

I also agree the fescue around the bunkers is likely to be trimmed back within the first 6-12 months of play.

Scott,
Thanks for the photos.
I love the look of this approach.
Is the collar of rough that rings the fairway bunker a necessary maintenance feature or a kindness?

Jonny D and Eric are correct, this is Goodwood, north of
Toronto, by former Donald Steel main guys Tom Mackenzie
and Martin Ebert, who have formed their own design firm
(Steel is essentially retired now, I've heard).  I don't know
when the (private) course is due to open, but I'm guessing
either very soon this year or next spring.

The professional photos are by Clive Barber (who has shot a
number of Canadian courses, hence why I left that out at
first).  Web site:  http://clivebarber.com/ and many more
photos of Goodwood here (which I couldn't post here as it is a
Flash site).

OK, I'll be the first to say it.  The name of the course either describes Gib's physical reaction to the photos, or is otherwise a damn fine last name for a male porn star.

 ;D

Hell of a nice looking course, anyway.

$250,000 US = $241,080 Canadian at today's exchange rate.

So actually its a bargain for Americans.

That is a fantastic looking green site - great shot!

I don't like the collars of rough on the 'play side' of the bunkers.

For 250K in any country, there better be some on site daycare.
Course looks very nice...
