Hyde Park CC/Ross Bunkers?
« on: August 25, 2007, 06:50:28 AM »
Hyde Park CC in Cincinnati, OH is a Ross course that has done quite a bit of renovation work over the last 5 to 7 years. They've cleared a lot of trees and brush opening up vistas across the course, returned greens closer to the original size and shape, and added and removed bunkers and changed the style of the bunkers. The current bunkers have a completely flat bottom - and I mean completely flat. There is no flashing at all. When you're ball goes into the bunker now it typically rolls right up to the lip because there is no flashing to help it roll back a little. The bunkers look like they belong at Camargo a few miles away. Every Ross course I've played has at least a few inches of sand flashed around the edges. So did Hyde Park get it totally wrong or have I just not experienced enough Ross yet to see this kind of bunkering on some of his other courses? Could it be that Hyde Park couldn't resist being like the only other top 100 course in SW Ohio?
