Besides Cog Hill, what public/resort courses are worth considering in the Chicago area?

I just got back from my first trip to Chicago.
I was only there for a few days on business . . .
What a beautiful city, I was very impressed!

If you have not played George Dunne recently then you have not played George Dunne. This is a course with massive proportions with some of the largest tees and greens I have ever seen. The conditioning has improved significantly since Billy Casper Golf took over managment of the course several years ago. The variety of tees and pin locations provide a "new course" every time you play. Give it a shot. BTW the rates are very affordable. One of the best values in Chi-town.

I expect to be in Chicago October 26 and 27. Is the weather at that time of year "friendly" to golf? Thanks

199 played, only Augusta National left to play!

Bob,

It could be perfect or it could be quite cold.  There is really no way to know.  A nice October day in Illinois is one of the best for golf IMO.  My club up there closes Oct 31 to give you an idea.

I played several times in November last year.  It really just depends on the particular day.

Bob,

I will be a temporary bachelor that weekend so am also hoping that it will be warm enough to play.  I generally will only play if it's above 45 degree though.
