GCA Contest: Who will win the PGA Championship?
« on: August 07, 2007, 12:01:06 PM »
Sorry for the late start on this one. I've been...distracted the past couple of days.

It's GCA Glory's Last Shot.

1) Who will win the PGA Championship?

2) Bonus Questions:

New format, worth one point each. Pick the winner out of the following pairs:

Lefty: Phil Mickelson v. Mike Weir
Argentine: Andres Romero v. Angel Cabrera
Unhappy Runners-Up: Sergio Garcia v. Rory Sabbatini
Cowboy vs. Sooner: Hunter Mahan v. Anthony Kim
Low O: Nick O'Hern v. Sean O'Hair

My answers:

1) Woods
2) Weir, Cabrera, Garcia, Kim, O'Hair

In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Andy,

I like your style and your picks... Verplank is used to this unholy weather having lived here and in Texas and has played Southern Hills more than a few times.

One change though, I'll go with Angel Cabrera.

A sooner over a Cowboy in golf?  Football yes, but golf, not gonna happen. Besides have you seen how well Hunter has been playing lately?

As I remember, the last time they played there, the TV program, "This Week on the PGA Tour" had Stricker as the guest host.  He seemed to like SH.  hmmmm, if he can get back in contention by Sat, we will have to keep him from imagining himself winning so he don't get all choked up on us.

Tiger Woods by 2 over Woody Austin

Most will step out of his way, parting like the Red Sea, while he shoots a decent round on his way to victory.

Few ever charge Woods and overtake him.

Rarely does someone tee off early and post a great number that Woods then has to beat.

Under pressure, he may be the best putter ...... ever.

As a loyal Canadian, I would like to see Mike Weir play well at Southern Hills and note that many of you pick him to finish ahead of Phil as low lefty (Steve Flesch - are you still in the field?). Mike was blowing his brains out last week at Firestone and as I understand it, withdrew due to a neck injury. I cannot fathom, in those circumstances, why Phil would become the less popular choice as a lefty this week. Is this a reflection of how unpopular Phil has become among those on this site?
