There are a lot of very fortunate people on this forum! Can't imagine getting to play all those incredible courses!!  For me, shooting par at Monarch Dunes (70.7/135) a couple weeks after turning 48 earlier this year... and within 2 years of picking up the game.

Taking my 4-year-old to the driving range for the first time.

Otherwise, my play has been off, but I've played two very good courses for the first time this season, Purgatory and Indian Ridge (Oxford, OH)

Highlights --- my trip to Ayrshire, playing 6 courses in 4 days.  Playing my best round of the year at Royal Troon.  Rolling in a 15-foot par put on #18 at Royal Troon, with the caddies from the caddyshack cheering.

Lowlight --- British Air losing my clubs on my return trip.  They arrived at home 12 days after I checked them in.

Highlight so far: being chosen to walk inside the ropes at The Open as a volunteer bunker raker. Very excited about that.

New course highlight: Knole Park so far, really pretty course and underrated.

Revisit highlights: Rye and Pennard. Wonderful

By a mile.....Taking my 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son out on the course for the first time a couple weeks ago. The look on each of their faces after getting the ball airborne and running out 150 or so yards is priceless. Also, watching them bicker ;) in such a nice setting was hilarious.

2nd place was convincing my wife to let me spend her beer money for the year on a new membership :o.

Three worth noting so far;

1. Trip to Bandon with my son for our annual trip.  His first time there.  My first time at Bandon Trails which I think is superb.

2.  Winning the Father/Child at our club and shooting 73 while doing so.

3.  Cochairing another successful fund raiser at Shoreacres for the Chicago District Golf Assoc. to provide golf for disabled war vets and children with disabilities.

Sentimental: My 3 year old son picked out a little golf ball and tee set at the store, saying that "Dad really likes golf".

Playing highlight: Not many to choose from, but playing Pensacola CC with Bill McBride would've topped the list even if there were.

Spectating highlight: Multiple days at Oakmont during the Open. Every time I go there I learn something new.

Teeing it up with 2 of GCA's luminaries (Dick Daley and Tiger Bernhardt) at Lawsonia.  Outstanding golf, better company.  ;)

Cheers,
Brad

Jay - how about asking questions on national TV during the US Open press conference?

I definitely like covering the majors too, but the hootie was more intimate.  After a bad shot, to wind down, the players would come talk to me and we'd walk up the fairway together.

Thanks for posting the pic of Titleist too.

Garland and Jason, I liked your answers too!

As always it has been a wonderful year full of special moments, many of them with you guys. Chambers Bays was the course of the year so far for me. A competitive round at Olympic Lake was the round of the year. A perfectly clear day at Cypress was the golf experience of the year to date. There are many days left.

Tiger,

Is that because you tied John Daly's State of Washington record of most logos worn at one time?  ;)

I made a hole-in-one yesterday.

But the hole was only 40 yards long, so it's hard to get too excited.

Which means that qualifying for the State Am is clearly my highlight for the year so far.

2 - 6 natural birdies at The Wachovia Pro-Am

3 - Yale at Sundown on 6/19.

1. Watching my almost 3-year old daughter play in the sand with her cut-down Ben Hogan 6-iron.

2. Playing Jeff Brauer's new Sand Creek Station in April.

3. This Sunday, for my first trip to Wild Horse in two years (and I'm only 2 hours away)  :'(

First golfing trip to Scotland, played several of the classics, enjoyed Turnberry, Prestwick, Gleneagles Kings, TOC and Kingsbarns the most.  I didn't duff it off the tee at TOC (which I had recurring nightmares about for 12 months) and posted my lowest round of the trip there.

Kingsbarns had the most wind I've ever seen, so I played most of my shots onto the green on the ground with my rescue club.  I thought more about my next shot than I ever had before, and despite the wind I played a great round.  Without the wind I wouldn't have tried many of those shots and would have probably scored worse, and possibly not have enjoyed (seen) as much of the course as I did.

Watching my 9 year old son put the game all together in the Golf Assoc of Philly pre-junior tournament. Recovered from an 8 without getting frustrated, and posted a 34 over the six holes to finish t-4.

I got to spend a day with Tom Doak, and designed a triple punchbowl green with him that Jim Urbina built as we watched and sipped pinot noir together..

I handed Pat Mucci a devastating defeat at NGLA over three days earlier this summer, with Tom Paul carrying his bag. In fact, it was so devastating that Pat injured his eye on purpose to use as an excuse to get out of the wager.....ice cream....

I came "this close" to convincing Tom Macwood to rejoin the site....still a real possibility. I'll be the first to welcome him back.

Lunch with Tiger in Dubais.....the prawns were to die for.

The Emporer and I went out one night in February, and had chicks all over us once they found out we were part of "GolfClubAtlas".......

I started a cheese making facility in Michigan, catering to the same people who buy that fancy bottled water for $50 a pop. RJ is my consultant, and we only use gay goats, so that's our, ahem...."ace in the hole" for marketing in California.

I played with The Donald on the bag in Scotland, in June. I fired his ass......he was that bad.

That's enough for now...I need to go over to the "Dead Guys Played" thread and make sure I'm appreciated over there as well....
