Bogey
I will gladly shout out Burnside. I like the course very much and would gladly play it again. The course has all the tell tale signs of a links, but elevation changes are minimal. There are several very good holes including a few par 3s of which #14 is an absolute stunner. The green sits on a bit of a plateau with dunes guarding left and right. Unusually, the tee is at a wonky angle to the hole so one must fly the left dune. Its a tough hole for sure. #17 is a pretty cool hole too - if played downwind I think it is a great hole. Like #17 on the big course (the two greens are cheek by jowel), Barry Burn menaces the drive AND the approach (some 25 yards short of the green). With the hole being something like 470 yards it is a brute, but the burn gives it some charm. Its a shame about the finisher - dull as can be!
If you play the Chamionship course its a bit of a no brainer to hang about and play the Burnside for an extra £15. Otherwise on its own, I think the green fee is something like £30 - £35. I certainly think this is one of the better courses on this stretch of the coast.
