Okay, it's a hokey staged picture of my wonderful wife, but do you have any idea what a thrill it is to wake up to this view out the bedroom window on your first morning in St. Andrews?

Golf courses are becoming far to long. Twenty years ago we played three rounds of golf a day and considered we had taken an interminably long time if we took more than two hours to play a round. Today it not infrequently takes over three hours. --Alister MacKenzie

This guy was incredible. After a flight had left the green, he came screeching over the mounds with his scooter, his dog yapping behind him and with an expert's touch he immediately retrieved any balls that didn't quite make the approach. It may look like a Golf bag on his scooter, but that is just to throw off the marshal - in reality he was working the lakeballs business.

Here are a few more of my favs. The Club at Bond Head North Course, Hole #2. I love the shadows across the hill and bunkers. This is my Dad on the 7th tee at Enniscrone. I've had 2 great golf trips in Ireland with my Dad and next year I hope to make it a 3rd. This is from the 18th green at Castlerock. The sun came out just after we finished and I was able to grab my camera before it tucked in behind the clouds.

St. Andrews from TOC. Maybe not my best, but one of my favorites.

Phil, regarding my earlier post they have a lot of work to do at Erin Hills before something there looks as elegant as anything at Crystal Downs. Here is a companion to my earlier photo, the Three Amigos to the Three Sisters.

I don't consider myself a photographer - just a picture taker. We have some talented photographers around here though. Anyway, this is my favorite photo that I've taken.

Not a great photo, but one of my favorites. My wife with a caddie at Prestwick. She was pregnant at the time and he felt sorry for her so he walked her quite forward to a green patch of grass in and old road track and said " This is the Ladies Tee - Hit Away!" You might be able to tell she is chuckling under her cap and I nearly split a gut! We still talk about that moment today.

Jason,
It's the 8th at the Kingsley Club where Mike DeVries drew inspiration from the 5th at Crystal Downs.

Unc, that will be the little-known and even littler-appreciated Astroturfus plasticus var. scoticusAppears often in Scotland esp. on areas of over-trafficked grassland. Opportunistic in habitat, adapts well to golf courses with under-budgeted maintenance, over-worked greenstaff and poorly-educated greens committees... ever your obedient neffers, Fatty.
