Yes, Clyde, Spanish Wells would be a good hickory course.  I remember playing there when it opened with my parents.  Boy was it firm and fast, dry as a bone !  They liked it so much they bought a lot on the sixth hole, I think - is it a dogleg sharp right ?  Any way, there were no houses - and it took a long time before anyone built out there.

My sister inherited the lot, and never thought it would be a good location for a house.

As a matter of fact my 320i which I bought in 1978 is here in the yard, and it has The Heritage Golf Classic decal, 1979 on the windshield.

Those were the days @ H/H !!

Clyde:

I join with others as we roll out the Golf Club Atlas red carpet for you. No need to wait for the Golf Industry Show to hear how you're doing, as our paths will cross sooner via this site. A warm welcome aboard, Clyde.

What project do you have going in Aiken?  Tell us about it.

Tim: yes, it's me and Robert is doing a great job in Aiken. I'll tell him hello for you.

Daryl: It's the fourth course for Woodside Plantation and it will be called the Hollow Creek Preserve GC. It plays out of the same clubhouse as the Nicklaus designed Reserve course. Fuzzy Zoeller is my co-designer.

Holes 1-5 and 14-18 are under construction and will open this fall. Grassing has started but we just got a five inch rain that messed up several holes. The balance of the holes are slated to start this fall based on real estate sales and open next fall. ::)

It's a pretty hilly site and the routing plan was fairly set when I got there but I was able to make a few changes that help the overall routing. But you have to remember, this is a real estate golf course and we all know that means there will be some distance between the green and the next tee on several holes. Also Hollow Creek and it's associated wetlands create a lengthy travel distance from 6 to 7 and 9 to 10.:( The nines don't return to the clubhouse due to the narrowness of the property at that point.

Overall yardage of 7311 with a par of 72. The first phase will have several really good holes and a kick-ass finish with 16, 17 and 18.
