Thanks for the link, Mark. Any course that has Kinghorn ("The Ballybunion of Scotland") on it must be taken seriously. In fact, I have a distinguisehd GCA guest staying in Aberdour right now and I might just steer him there today!
I also like the course ratings. Not as complex or confusing as the Arble system, but producing much more satisfying results.

Sean,
Sandwich is £65 from the 1 November - it's certainly worth that.

Mike
Sean's right. Martin Ebert (of Mackenzie and Ebert) fame is trying to recover an original OTM that apparently lies under the land of the current course.

I find your rating system droll rather than offensive, except when you blatantly disrespect mud by comparing it to your system's "clarity."

Humerous. I'm not sure its serious. Jupiter Hills #10 with St. Andrews #16 followed by world renowned Poipu Bay at #17.

Does anyone know how he bases his ratings?
Is it a joke, or is it serious?

I'm sure there is some kind of formula being used to arrive at the numbers, but I doubt it is a serious formula.
Interesting too, that the courses are mostly in order by their "score", but there are a few which are not ranked correctly ... in fact, there are a handful (Merion and Royal Melbourne included) which had a higher "score" than the #1 ranked course ... but they wouldn't have made anyone notice.
And, even though it's not serious, I will bet anyone who wants to take the action $100 that within a year I can find an advertisement or another article which mentions that Carne, Fancourt, or Poipu Bay were ranked in the top 20 courses in the world.

"Finally, a ranking that makes sense!" It must be serious because each course has precise score next to it.
Tom D, I thought about it when you only had Carne up there, but then I remembered you mentioning a while ago you had upcoming college expenses. I could see you calling up the pro shop to offer the services of your printer.
