Wow!
WOW!

I was their again yesterday, showing a buddy the course, and all he could muster was 'WOW'!!

I'd say Aidan captured the course pretty darn well.
Those are fantastic.

Michael,
All it takes is once and you'll be down everyday.

I wonder how this will affect the area's "CCFAD" courses.  If I remember correctly, there's a Palmer course up in Gig Harbor.

Why would a golfer drive all the way up there with Chambers Bay so much closer?

Dan,
The answer is money. Last time I played Semiahmoo (about 6 years ago) it was about half the price that CB is charging outsiders. CB is one of, if the not the highest priced public access course in Washington. There are probably less than 5 courses in the state that  charge over $100.

However if I'm in town and only have 1 round to play you will find me at CB if I can get on.  ;D

With all the local info from 'Cos' and others, this really is going to be a fascinating case study as to how the marketting/operational plan progresses, and to what extent the current ideas may have to be altered.

It seems like yesterday that the Bandon vision was first upon us.  I can't even believe now that I once had a chance with a group - including Craig, to simply go over the "drawings" of Pac Dunes with TD explaining aspects to us.  And, now look how it has progressed!  :o

Chambers is one course whose future is so bright I can't wait to see, and I'm looking for the most rosey colored shades.   ;) ;D
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

RJ,

It really wasn't that long ago... heck it was only $75 to play Bandon Dunes then.  :o

Once again I am torn between praising Aidan for blessing my desktop with a scene of fantastical golfing imagery and cursing him for reminding me that I could be somewhere much more invigorating than my work station.

I think I'll go with the cursing. I always enjoy my expletives.

Is it a fair statement to make that without GCA.com and it's proliferation of information, this course, built in this style, by this designer, would never have happened?

Has Jay been kind enough to comment, yet? ( I have'nt read every thread or post on CB)

Yes, but somehow they turn a mostly functional website for my Linux system into a totally dysfunctional website for my Linux system.

The also seem to filter out the beautiful soft light that Aidan works to capture. Bummer!

At least the website lets me see the pictures while rendering the menus nonfunctional.

What do you all think of that picture of #3 with the green running away from the tee?

... the lone fir stands on the shores of the Narrows in Puget Sound.

Wind in winter gathers to the south and then is forced through the narrows leading to some pretty exciting storms and high winds.

The tree is perched perilously atop the knoll and the western (bay side) root structure was damaged during the excavation to install the fence (a county requirement). Doug Firs are fairly shallow rooted and are much stabler with other trees to give a good meshing roothold.  Enjoy the photos now because it is in a suspensful site.  And, being in sand and gravel soil, adds that much more to its perilous plight.

Slag,

So that is why you were caught in one of the pictures from the outing doing a thorough examination of the tree.

Gar, Yes rumors of my "Gotta go, gotta go!" problem were highly exagerated.   Besides, peeing behind that tree would not only be very unprivate, it would be downright dangerous dangling dinky, deluging and disturbing dirt.

I love the railroad tracks and the tree.  The pot bunker, though, looks a little out of place.

Tim,

I like the pot bunker. I think it gives you less of a chance to bail out left and hope the ball trundles down towards the pin. Maybe you will like my re design better???

Aidan,

I also like it without the pot bunker. If a player is smart enough to aim away from the pin and use the contours of the ground, there ought to be a very reasonable chance of pulling it off.

Thanks for the pictures.

Can't argue with that Joe. However, I believe the bunker gives the hole more visual balance and appeal. I'm off for a cocktail. How about you have a Jamesons and I will have a Bushmills, just to show that we can both enjoy a different but similar experience. Slainte.

I am suprised Tiger hasn't piped up about his visit this last weekend. Does it rival the European Club? :-*

Did you hit it anywhere in the native areas?  Was it grown in enough you felt you could walk on it?.  I toured the course a few months back, was scared to walk in the native areas.

I will say that Tiger liked it a great deal.  He didn't score particularly well (although I think he beat me), but I think that was because Auburn great Bo Jackson played two groups behind us and he was out of sorts all day.

Also he was WAY overlogoed. Olympic Club bag, Champions Hat, Mountain Lake shirt, LSU logoed shorts, and Masters logoed white socks with black shoes. No chance to play well with that ensemble'...

Sean I am taking the bait.  lol Sean beat me like I was from a Pac 10 school at his club on Friday. I am pleased to say I separated him from some of his hard earned cash on Saturday. For the record no Auburn Tiger especially Bo Jackson could do anything but make me proud to be an LSU Tiger and not from Auburn. lol I must confess to being a bit over logoed. However it was the last day of the trip and was running out of cloths. However one can never have to many LSU outfits. I thought it was a Chambers Bay shirt, ML hat, LSU shorts and of course Masters socks. The bag was Oly Club. I think one needs much more to be a total nascar golfer. Maybe the outfit did make me gag putt after putt. However in fairness to all I never score well on slow greens. I loved the course but it is only been open a few months and the greens are still running slow. I hope each and all of you make the pillgramage to Chambers Bay for it is a very good course which will turn many heads throughout the golfing world on quality issues and as to what can be done by a governmental agency in this day and time. Sean a good time was had by one and all.
