Tiger's kid: OT
« on: June 19, 2007, 03:58:09 PM »
Payne pours in three consecutive 15 footers to beat Mickelson at Pinehurst and the storyline was about Amy's pregnancy and how Phil might miss the golf if she goes into labor.

Tiger has a putt to force a Monday playoff and....

And what?  His wife gives birth early Monday to their first.

Does anyone else think Tiger was sending a silent message to one of his adversaries about the difference between going about one's business and making yourself the center of attention every chance you get?

Sam?  Sam?  Uh, okay.  Maybe it'll grow on me.

Mickelson kept the difficulties of his wife's third pregnancy and the medical challenges faced by his son under wraps for quite a while when struggling with his game a few years ago.

Tiger keeps everything under wraps. Has Tiger ever done or said anything regarding his personal life that is surprising or even revealing?

This is as good a thread as any to post an opinion I've been forming for some time now - Tiger Woods is perhaps the most likeable mega-athlete living today.  On the rare times he lets his guard down, he seems like a pretty fun and decent 30 year old guy.  He's loyal to his friends and parents and is apparently well behaved.  I loved the bit where he appears out of nowhere to play the par three hole with an unsuspecting foursome with closest to the pin winning a Buick.  He seems pretty genuine.  The guy's bright and has a good sense of humor (yelling to Monty that he "kicked his arse" after he shot 80 to Monty's 84 in The Open Championship).

I would sponsor him for membership on The Hillbilly Tour.  'nuf said.

I know you didn't mean anything by it, but Tiger's Kid? I probably would have used Tiger's Daughter.

Anyway, "Sam." Maybe she was named after Sam Snead !

I was thinking she was named after Sam Skarda...

Seriously?  Amy was due during the US Open.  Elin was a few weeks early.  Damn skippy the story would've been baby Woods had the timing been better.  No comparison because Sam took everyone by surprise.

As for Tiger playing w/ a foursome for a Buick.....of course he seemed like a nice guy.  There were 10 cameras rolling for the commercial being filmed.

I'm fans of both Phil and Tiger, but I don't think the circumstances of either situation are comparing apples to oranges.  As for Phil, he almost lost his 3rd kid and his wife during childbirth and he kept it secret for over a year.  A year that the media was all over him for playing poorly and he could've played the kid card at any time....but didn't.
