"Ask me about golf in Maine", Michael Moore

Michael - time to tell us all about golf in Maine!

I've played Belgrade Lakes - what are your recommendations?    I know you like Portland CC (I still have your cool yardage book!) - what else is there for us visitors?

I like Maine in August because it's usually a lot less hot and humid than SE Pennsylvania.  Once you get bast Hartford, the drive isn't that bad.

Also - Have you ever played any of the New Brunswick courses?

I won't give too much away Dan, but I've played quite a bit of golf in Maine as well.

I count among my better posts my long Northern New England golf post on the "long weekends" thread from about 18 months ago.

Cape Arundel is of course a So. Maine favorite, the Ledges, Dunegrass.

Penobscot Valley is a Northern Maine favorite.

Samoset is relatively overrated, but Kebo Valley and Northeast Harbor up in Acadia are great.

I will let Michael fill in the 9-holers....
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

Prouts Neck by way of the Blackberry Inn (I think). Stiles and Van Kleek on the shores of a river not far from the sea.

Thanks for the info.  I played a very enjoyable round with Michael last year. He's a real yankee - plays with beautiful persimmon woods and he hits them very well. When I asked why persimmon, he alluded to the "frugal" yankee in him.  He's a great guy!

Dan -

I could have sworn that I said "in order to generate the attention that my game cannot" !

If you would like trip-specific advice, please feel free to give me a call. Yardage book marketing is beginning to erode my candor, and I am grooming my trusty intern Bradford Tufts to take over the public face of the franchise.

As for "ask me about golf in Maine", tonight I would just like to say that I feel blessed to live where pace of play and cost are complete non-issues.
