Pine Valley vs Augusta...
« on: June 13, 2007, 06:19:33 PM »
Which would be improved most with the removal of all trees on site given modern erosion control could be put in place without intruding on the playscape.  Which would be a better course in the buff?  How would the improvement of each relate to the recent changes at Oakmont?

I have not even been to Augusta but Pine Valley could use a chain saw.  Except for a few holes (5 & 15 especially) trees really don't come into play.  They do block the wind a little and pictures of the course at the time it was opened show a different course than the one we play today.  It looked wide open.

I have gotten the impression from TEPaul that the massive tree planting program at Pine Valley was either a WPA project or somehow related to national security.
