Does anybody disagree with me that Ian Baker Finch is a class act and an honest, interested breath of fresh air?

He's okay, I think he sounds much better on CBS than he did ABC.

As Jonathan knows,  because he was there, I spent a day with IBF in late May at a fund-rasier in the DC area and I came away immensely impressed with his grace, professionalism, sense of humor and his willingness to work and pay attention to everyone around him, esp. the pro-am folks. If I were doing an event I would think that he's about the best person and the best value you could spend your money on getting.

I agree with Sam, he's okay on the TV. I don't think a voice that has been on TV for ten +/-years qualifies as a "breath of fresh air." I find Faldo to have a fresher voice. I haven't had any personal interaction as Brad and Jonathan so I can't comment on the off-air IBF.

On the air give me Oosty anyday.

I know he has a reputation as a great guy, but the man uses "little" in every phrase. This little pitch, this little 5 iron, this little hybrid.. It starts to drive me crazy.. But I do like his enthusiasm and demeanor..

I think he gets it. Instead of just donating money, he donates his time and company, too. For example donating a ride with him on a private jet to augusta, where the lucky winner caddied for him in the par 3 tournament.

Did anyone catch what he said when tigers approach to 11 landed left of the green initially, but then bounced down the hill, finally stopping a few feet from the hole?

He called it a "ground fade."

I think it was Ian who was commenting on an Australian tournament in 1996 (shortly after the golf channel started).  A player was taking a drop on the green for some reason and Ian thought he was doing it incorrectly.  All of a sudden he starts yelling at the player from the commentary box in order to prevent a penalty.

Turns out he had the rule wrong but I really enjoyed it and thought it showed a lot of heart.

Sure beats waiting to bring it up until after the player will be DQ'd.
