Crossings at Carlsbad

Two things...

First, is it the most expensive muni in the country at $60/65/80 for local residents? Hardly unreasonable, but a lot for a city course.

Second, about the routing. It looks to me that from #11 (top-left of the map), players travel about 300 yards to the 12th green, then another 450 yards to the 12th tee, after which they of course play 450 yards back to #12 green. Am I reading this right?

It looks like an impossible walk, and a pretty long drive, too. Not a criticism as I'm sure it's a very hilly site - just an observation.

Most expensive in the country....or county? There was a short thread some time ago on this; with some photos. There was a decent article in the Tribune which had the cost to complete at $70M.

Of course when one mixes up a cocktail of Greg Nash, inland Carlsbad and today's construction costs....that cocktail is going to be expensive....and not taste very good >:(.
You'd make a fine little helper. What's your name?

that's hilarious....
What does it matter if the poor player can putt all the way from tee to green, provided that he has to zigzag so frequently that he takes six or seven putts to reach it?     --Alistair Mackenzie--

This is not a GCA type of course. It is forced on to the land. And because of the distance between greens and tees, you will have to take a cart.

"All fees include the use of a golf cart, since the 6,800-yard course, spread over 400 acres, is deemed too long to walk."

Let's just say it is the opposite ideal of Chambers Bay.

I guess there are enough non-GCA golfers for the city to support the upkeep of the course but not to pay off the debt. They will use bed taxes to make that up.
